Rockingham - What is the best way to plant small fruit trees in very sandy soil? Have quite a few trees on order and my plan is to dig about 60cm deep by 100cm wide holes, fill with a good mix of horse manure, hay, soil improver and sand. Plant and leave a bowl around to gather water and then mulch from light close to the tree then heavier further out. Its worked fine for citrus though theyve only been in six months. Trees will include apple (x2), peach, pear, plum, apricot, pawpaw, avocado, mandarin, cherry, nectarine, mango, almond, dragon fruit and raspberry (think thats it). Raspberry going on a trellis, not sure exactly how theyll be planted yet. Any ideas on what does / does not work?
