Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. So Paul says here that “the law” is spiritual and holy and just and good. So why would the God that gave such a spiritual, just, holy and good law take that away from us? How much would that suck? How could what is called walking at liberty(obeying God`s law) in Psalm 145:11 somehow turn into “bondage” or a curse? How long is God`s righteousness righteous? And what does God say is truth? Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an “everlasting” righteousness, and thy law is the “truth”. So did Paul somehow do away with what God says is truth? Can any “person” or Church make what God says is true no longer true? Or could it be that Paul was only referring to sin(disobedience)and the penalty that sin brings without Christ? The law of sin and death? I can honestly say that I want the law of the Spirit of life to reign in my life. My spirit man longs and desires to serve Yahweh and obey His instruction, to obey the law or instruction of righteousness (obedience). What part of me desires to separate from the law of the Spirit of life in Christ? My flesh. My “carnality”. The flesh “hates” the law of God. Paul`s intention here is to teach us to walk in the spirit constantly but the desire of man (flesh) is to “not” be subject to any law at all. If Satan had his way, “nobody” would be subject to the law of Yahweh. Gal 2:19 For I through(following) the law(of God) am dead to the law(of sin and death), that I might live more fully unto God. So what the Apostle is telling us is that we use the law to be free from the law of sin and death which is the only law that literally had dominion “over” us in that, “if we continue in sin”, we die whether we want to or not. Something that has power to end us no matter if we want it or not has dominion. It is a negative effect. If we keep the law of sin…death is the negative result. We are not “under” the “dominion” of God`s other laws, very simply and quite nicely because, there are “no” negative effects brought on by keeping them. They cannot have “dominion” over us. Free will is good when it aligns with the will of God. Christ in us, the hope of glory. Col 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: It is only “through” Christ that we are able to die to sin and death. I am dead to the law of sin and death. I was delivered from it by obeying laws that I am not dead to. The law of God, the law of righteousness (obedience), the law of the Spirit of life and the law of Christ. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. I like to clarify what law I am dead to as well as which I am alive and subject to. Why? Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So if I walk in the flesh the law of God is my enemy but in the spirit, it is Christ in me(strength) So I also am alive to the law of righteousness(obedience). Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Simply meaning, Yahshua does not impute “His’ righteousness to those with no desire or intention of “practicing” righteousness. Law is a source of knowledge not salvation, it is a reaction/result of love, both of God and toward God. Obedience to the law should always be above and beyond the law because it is a reaction to and a result of love for Yahweh. One can never be owed anything by obeying law or for that matter by saying you believe in Christ. Yahweh will never owe us anything. But He is faithful to perform His word. Obeying Yahweh is beyond the law when we walk in the spirit because the spirit craves the instruction of Yahweh and longs to please Him, to be one spirit with the Father and son. It is only and always the flesh that desires to not be subject to the law of God because the flesh lusts/longs to be re-attached to the law of sin and death it was taken from. Flesh enjoys sin, spirit hates it. This is usually not realized until sincere conversion is in progress. Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Thus the need to crucify the flesh daily. My flesh still longs to serve the law of sin that brings death. Temptations threaten to resurrect the flesh but by putting into practice what Yahweh instructs us to learn and practice in our everyday lives we can overcome and remain strong in the spirit and thus serve the law or instruction (if you prefer) of Yahweh God more fully. So we do not fear the law of the spirit of life (of God) we crave it and through the love of Christ we effectively remain dead to the law of sin and death. Shalom. https://facebook/groups/7spirits/
