Ron made it through the night Monday without needing to be coughed! But last night he did not :( He said he worked and worked at it and could not get it out. I have been leaning him forward and that helps him, but I wasnt there to do it and he didnt ask anyone. He called the nurse to page respiratory. It took them 40 minutes to come help him! He was already exhausted and at the end of his rope when he called. At breakfast the NA said she had to go and wouldnt feed Ron the rest of his breakfast. The Dr. came in and said, Didnt you want to eat this? Ron told him what happened and he stood there and fed Ron the rest of it himself. When asking for chapstick, they smear it all over, even on his teeth. This is a small thing and obviously not life threatening, but it shows the lack of caring that is exhibited here. One other thing happened today that was potentially life threatening. I immediately got the nurse manager to come and see. She apparently had words with the NA who caused it because when that person came back, she refused to talk to me. I cant have this friction between Ron and I and the staff. They need to train their people correctly, not just chew them out. I just couldnt stand it anymore so I composed a lengthy letter to the patient advocate explaining all the issues weve had from the first day. Well see if that changes anything...We are both exhausted. The stress of this is really wearing on me. Thank you Lord for the oasis I have where I am staying.
