Roseville Fire weekend activity report: Friday: 45 incidents, including: --Assisting with a structure fire on Hwy. 193 in the Lincoln area (an old abandoned farmhouse and surrounding acreage) --Rescued a woman who had gone to the Roseville Cemetery to visit a loved ones grave, and stepped into a sink-hole. She got stuck in mud up to her knee. Firefighter-paramedics rescued her from the sinker, cleaned her up and released her at the scene. No zombies involved.... --Responded to a smoking electric transformer on Phillips Road, surrounded by dry grass on a very hot day. Engine 2 put a precautionary wet line around the area while Roseville Electric made repairs. Fortunately their efforts prevented a grass fire. --All 80+ teams involved in the HUGE youth softball tournament hosted at Maidu Regional Park and Mahany Park did a great job keeping their players safe in the heat. Engine 5 responded to one call to treat a player who was feeling ill. She was treated and released at the scene. Saturday: 46 incidents, including: --Sending a strike team to help with several fires in the Burney area --Station 1 hosted a successful open house. Kids really enjoyed the pole drop (the only fire station in Roseville that has one) and the station 1 crews mini-combat challenge. Sunday: 33 incidents, most consisting of medical aid calls. Our firefighters are continuing to help with the fires in northern California. Our strike team was assigned to the Day Fire near Lassen, and one of our battalion chiefs went to help with fire incident management in Redding.
