Roxy on her second day we did some heel work and the hear command before we took her to the field this dog is smart ! For those out there that think hunting dogs come completely assembled out of the box on hunting ! Well they dont It takes work developing what they are born with ! First thing is buy a CD on training the versatile dog that way you see what there talking about and understand it more clearly than reading a book thats if you dont have the knowledge trust me you can do it just be PATIENT. When you come home from work give the wife a kiss and hug then grab your pup and give him 15 minutes of obedience..Here Heel and Whoa are the most important commands with the HERE command #1 WHOA #2 and HEAL #3 I like working them on heel and here I throw some whoa commands in there when I stop on the heel command then I go to the WHOA post.. The last thing you do is turn the dog loose to run and play.. Set up a course 5 minutes on each one then let him run after or throw a dummy for a retrieve a couple times.. Never try and train your dog if you only have 15 minute and end up shoving an hour down his throat.. Go out there having 2hrs and give and just him 15 minutes if you want to add more sessions do it but give him breaks put him up for a while and then give him another session. youtu.be/rYXo8f_Ioj4
