Run Hard After Christ Have you ever heard the story of the rabbit and the fox? The fox saw the rabbit and decided he want to eat him. The rabbit saw the fox and decided he wanted to live. They both ran and ran and ran. Eventually the fox got tired and gave up, deciding the meal wasn’t worth it. The rabbit got away with his life and was so relieved that he didn’t even notice how hard he’d been running. The fox was running for a meal, but the rabbit was running for his life. The difference between serious believers and care-free believers is the same difference as that between the rabbit and the fox. One runs for a meal, the other runs for his life. One has a low goal of obtaining some temporary pleasure and nourishment, the other has a much higher goal - to survive. The serious Christians are the ones who live life like they’re trying to attain something. They run hard and press into Jesus. When they’ve found themselves in a lull, they pull themselves back up by the scruff of their neck and ask the Lord to renew their energy because they don’t want to fall behind. They run for their life. They want to cleanse themselves of wickedness and be found pure in the eyes of God. They draw near to their Lord in Heaven because they long to be with Him. This is how we should all live. 1 Corinthians 9:24 – “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.”
