Running vs Jogging - for the record -I know I am jogging. I am not capable of running 6 miles in an hour. Two periods in my life I was capable of a 6min/mile pace - in 1983 I would jump out of bed, pull on running shorts a run a 10K on a relatively flat course. Then in 1990, I was training for NY Marathon, I would run 10K in the morning and faster 4 miles in the evening - then I broke a toe, took a consulting assignment and lost that intensity. I did get back to running in 2004 running 5 miles a day, but that was when I discovered swimming and used running only as a warm up to swimming. The confirmation that I can run a 10K is the satisfaction, doing it in less than an hour the goal. The investment required to run a 10K in less than 45 min is too costly on my body, and I would state that to anyone. Better to bike, which I am not good in, and I beleive best to swim laps -just like completing the 10K in under an hour, I swim a mile in under 40 minutes. I strive to get that back down to 36 min, the largest benefit being no impact on my joints
