So if Bond is FICTIONAL, what does it matter if hes played by an Asian, Black, Hispanic, or Native American man? What is the problem with color blind casting of fictional characters? Getting a White, Asian, Hispanic, or Native American man to portray Nelson Mandela, for example, isnt a good analogy, because they are real people. There has been a Black Green Lantern, as well as other traditionally White Comic Book characters. There has been a Black Annie Cinderella - and The Wiz has been around since the 70s. There are Black Barbie Dolls. Speaking as a woman who grew up in a world where I didnt see myself widley reflected in popular culture in the 60s and 70s, this is a good thing. Have you ever seen Whoopi Goldbergs early routine where she talked about running around with a mans shirt on her head, pretending to have long, blonde hair? Thats what Im speaking to.
