S&P RAISES FORECAST FOR PHILIPPINES Standard & Poor’s (S&P) has raised its Philippine growth forecasts for this year through 2016 after the economy picked up steam last quarter and as a US recovery bolstered prospects for the region. Results of S&P’s quarterly review of economies in Asia and the Pacific released on Wednesday showed the debt watcher now estimates a 6.7% growth for the Philippines this year, up from an earlier forecast of 6.6% made in June. The economy could grow at a slower clip next year and 2016 -- at 6.2% and 6.4%, respectively -- but those estimates were better than the 6% (2015) and 6.1% (2016) that S&P gave earlier.
