SACRED BLOOD Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of the dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christs sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately--at the end of the ages--become public knowledge, God always knew He was going to do this for you. 1 PETER 1:18-20, THE MESSAGE Not one of us is perfect. Anyone who claims to be is delusional. The most faithful and godly Christians I have met are humble on that point. They dont brag about their goodness, but only wish they could please God more. We still somehow get confused at times. We either tell ourselves that with more determination and hard work we can live exactly how God wants us to. Or, realizing we dont have the personal power to overcome temptation, we begin to take sin lightly and dont aspire to godliness. We are not alone in our struggles. The only place we can turn to is God--and He points us to His Son and what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. God forgives and empowers but at great cost: He paid with Christs sacred blood. This was His provision from the very beginning of days. He would do for us what we could not do ourselves, both in salvation and in godly living. The reminder is so simple yet so powerful. Dont try harder; trust more. Rest in the finished, perfect work of the cross. Will you trust Him to help you live the life He has planned for you? Father, when I thought I was strong enough to live for You, I failed. It was when I realized how much I needed You that I was able to begin the walk of holiness.
