SADDENED SOUTH AFRICAN BOERBOEL INDIVIDUAL What a turbulent - TopicsExpress

SADDENED SOUTH AFRICAN BOERBOEL INDIVIDUAL What a turbulent year for the Boerboel. The end result a classic irony - purebred dogs not allowed to be called Boerboels whilst those guilty of cross-breeding allowed to do so. In my humble opinion the current emphasis on over-sized animals with bigger heads, wider chests, thicker bone, questionable temperaments and uncharacteristic and exotic colours are not the Boerboels as we as we as South Africans used to know. Once you as an organisation allow, condone and reward market triggered, copulated behaviour - it is nearly impossible to turn back. The awarding of championship titles to these exaggerated examples has such a huge long-term impact on the breed human. How did this happen?? What happened to what the Boerboel as breed needs?? I am currently truly, truly so embarrassed to be a South African at this moment. How did we get here?? How did we allow this?? Where one can throw your heritage, integrity and proud history away where once stood a proud South African icon. The colour issue is the least of my problems. After fighting for the true Boerboel over a period of time - I hate to admit that eventually I have thrown in the towel. I will personally be involved in forming a respectable entity where the temperament, origin, function of the true South African Pioneer Farm Dog will not only be respected, but cemented in a rock solid Constitution with true judiciary responsibilities. My current litters I am selling without paperwork - mongrels! Yours truly, Dries Lloyd
