Oriya(S) As per the 2011 census, there were about 122 languages spoken by more than 10000 people. Of them 22 were the scheduled languages. • The survey has come up with languages that are spoken by less than 10000 people many of whom are from tribal areas, nomadic communities and from the interiors of North Eastern part of the Country. This is the biggest linguistic Survey in this Century. Irish linguistic scholar George Abraham Grierson had conducted the Linguistic Survey of India from 1898 to 1928. The survey revealed that the North-Eastern parts of India have one of the highest per capita language densities in the World. According to the report, the difficult topography of the region and the history of the tribal communities could have led to such a situation. About Peoples Linguistic Survey of India The People’s Linguistic Survey of India is a right based movement for carrying out a nation-wide survey of Indian languages as people perceive them, to identify, document and understand them; especially languages of fragile communities such as nomadic, coastal, island, hill and forest communities. BISHNUPRIYA MANIPURI an incorrect nomenclature.Bishnupriya an ISM representing a religious section of people and with it Manipuri an another converted Hindu class entered into the mainstreem of Idian religious culture with their older historical chronology in late 18th century.Bishnupriya(incorrectly) an ISM can not be the prifix or suffix to any nomenclature of a society.It breakes all the uniform nature of forming a Nomenclature.The correct form is BISHNUPUR+IYA which represents a single region and a particlar group of people or a class.
