SBI e-corner: A customer friendly initiative by the bank The Self Service Kiosk (SSK), is another user friendly initiative of the State Bank of India (SBI) which is similar to an ATM but have some extra features not available in an ATM. The customers may undertake certain financial and non-financial transactions, by just using their SBI ATM cum Debit cards. General public were also found thronging the e-corner to avail the facilities when this Reporter visited the counters. Presently SBI is having two e-corners - one is in the main branch premise at Mohanpura while the other is located at Dollygunj opposite to the DBRAIT entrance. The Regional Manager, SBI Regional Office Port Blair, Shri R.K.Trivedi, interacting with this Reporter said that the facilities available at these e- corners of SBI are passbook printing, bill payments, coin vending, fund transfer, mobile and internet banking registration, mini statement, a/c summary, SMS alert registration, stop cheque payment, cheque book request, loan a/c statement, open term deposit, balance enquiry, personal details view, SBI Life payment, GRPT, NEFT and revoking stop cheque payments. The Regional Manager also informed that for performing a transaction, customers need to insert their ATM cards in the kiosk and enter their ATM pin number to authenticate the transaction. He also added that these kiosks are having touch screen feature and is user friendly, where customers can navigate easily between screens. Shri Trivedi further enumerated that these self service Kiosks has decongested the branch counters/lobbies and also reduced the load of the passbook printing windows. This, he said has also reduced the transaction costs at the counters. Customer’s need not always take the trouble of visiting the branch, he added.
