SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCEMENT The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the Government of Morocco, has made available 35 scholarships in public Moroccan institutions of higher education for undergraduate studies beginning 2014/2015 academic year. Scholarships are for studies in nursing, medicine, geology, civil engineering, architecture, Computer Science, maternal health, and child health. Their aim is to give a unique opportunity to Liberians to strengthen their skills and expose them to best practices and training in Morocco. NOTE: Students will be required to learn the French language, and studies will be conducted in French. Applicants must: Be Liberian nationals; Have graduated in 2013 from secondary school with strong science marks(85 and above); Possess secondary school average of “B” above; Have passed the WAEC (Division I or II preference) with very strong science marks(3 – 4); Be between 19–23 years old at the time of application. Eligible Liberian nationals must forward TWO COPIES of the following documents for consideration: An application letter by the candidate in which s/he mentions in order of preference courses and schools, clearly stating their coordinates (address, phone number, email); Certified photocopies of high school transcript; Certified photocopies of high school diploma; Certified photocopies of WAEC Certificate; Photocopies of birth certificate; Photocopies of VALID passport (ECOWAS-Liberian Biometric passport); Recent police clearance; An UPDATED medical certificate issued by a recognized medical institution certifying the candidate’s physical aptitude, that s/he has received all vaccines and is not affected by any contagious illness/pandemic such as tuberculosis. The candidate might be compelled to do another check-up upon arrival to Morocco; Four recent white background (identical) passport photos in color with the full name and nationality of the candidate written at the back of each photo; A one to two page summary of the reasons for wishing to undertake training in Morocco and how this training will benefit Liberia; CV (with phone number and e-mail address clearly listed); Two recent letters of recommendation (one professional and one academic); PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Candidates will be permitted to certify all requested documents when nominated within 24 hours (certifying of requested documents is after all vetting process); No excuses will be granted for the lack of birth certificate and passport; Applicants’ letters of recommendation, medical certificates, and police clearance should be dated after November 1, 2014; Applicants should adhere to the closing date and time on this announcement; and Applicants are strongly warned not to present any illegal or falsified documents for this scholarship. If it is discovered that documents presented are not authentic, legal action will be taken against individual(s) guilty.
