SCOTLAND UPHOLDS 1707 UNION WITH ENGLAND What an exercise in democracy. Very articulate and very peaceful. How I wish this kind of political exercise should dominate US and RP politics. Republicans in the US would not help themselves out of muckraking. They would not even get out of the Benghazi issue. In the Philippines, the negotiators made fools of themselves in giving away territory without public debate, and shrewdly deprived the Muslims in Bangsamoro of the right to be represented in Congress and in the Senate. In Ukraine, Russia dispatched un-badged soldiers in Crimea, made the opposition deputies take over the parliament to request Putin for assistance. The soldiers put on their Russian badges and annexed Crimea to Russia. In Scotland, the people involved themselves in high level intellectual discourse, with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown virtually becoming the hero championing the vote against independence. Brown skillfully explained that all that Scotland has to do is to negotiate for better terms in its marriage to England. This could consist of autonomous control of the North Sea where UK or British Petroleum sips oil. Now that the No vote prevailed by 55%, the Scottish members of the British parliament will likely vote out David Cameron from No. 10 Downing Street. As a result of the failed secession of Scotland, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced today that UK will work on devolution of powers to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The next episode of James Bond perhaps could be about how the Union was won recently in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, with MI6 deftly coordinating all efforts to stay together.
