SCOTTS CROSSING HISTORY SESSION Okay Family let me give you some history: Since black history is coming up next month. Dorothy Norwood was born in Atlanta the same year our sister Barbara Campbell was born. Dorothy Norwood is 2 month older than Barbara. Her fathers church was on some of my mothers land. Our great grand father was very prominent and you all would know this is Lanella would let me have some of the old papers she have. I saw some and they are old papers and the papers will crumble if you touch them when they get old like that. Susanne has pictures of his daughters, our Great aunts. Our great grant father and your great great and some of your great great and great... Grand father and the black men laid a foundation. I was one years old when Dorothy Norwood father Rev Norwood started the Tabernacle baptist Church after my great grand father had already started Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. The community were either educators or cotton mill workers. Dorothy Norwood brought to mind my brother Pastor Sidney Ward. We hear them talk about Mother Clack, Fidelity, Triumph Church the Resque Home, Aaron, 3 years later Scotts Crossing with Bishop Paden. My mothers family believed in building community. You had Pastor Randoff, Pastor Aaron, And Pastor Paden in a row. Then you had Browntown Rd Triumph Church. Across the bridge Fidelity, and on Perry Blvd, Dorothy Norwood and Ralph Norwoods dad. We had one church who raised a community although we were different denominations. Gene Martin our cousin came out of Aaron, Glady Knight came out of one of the churches, Dorothy Norwood naturally help her father although she was born in 1935 and I was born in 1954 and was 1 years old and they were singing when she was less than 10 years old, I remember them. Ralph the son was the musician of Jones Ave COGIC and sometimes played for Gene with AA Allen. Its good to know the history of these people and that we know there roots. My mothers family owned lots of land almost all of Scotts crossing. Knowing this you should enjoy Dorothy as I have. My older sisters and brothers knew them better than me.
