SEED OF THE WEEK SUSTAINING YOUR POSITION “Thy sun shall - TopicsExpress

SEED OF THE WEEK SUSTAINING YOUR POSITION “Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended” – Isaiah 60: 20 (KJV). David was elevated from being a shepherd boy to being a palace boy by the singular act of bravery that saw him killing Goliath. But then, the king became very envious and jealous of the new status ascribed to David. (1 Samuel 18:7-9). The first thing to note therefore in order to sustain your position is that no matter the turn around, no matter the change of status, no matter the promotion that may attend your way, NEVER EXPECT EVERYBODY AROUND YOU TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR NEW STATUS. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil works” (James 3:16). This understanding will guide your actions and your conduct in your new position. Secondly, to retain your elevated position, you need to surround yourself with not just friends, but COVENANT FRIENDS. Michal understood very well, the marriage covenant she entered into with David, and as such, when her father was plotting the death of her husband, she got wind of it and she immediately made the details know to her husband. Single handedly, she arranged for his escape before day break (1Sam 19:11, 12). Jonathan also understood quite well the friendship covenant between him and David, so he revealed the plans of his father to kill David and immediately made arrangement for his escape (1Sam 19:1-3). Just as friends can help you to get to the top, friends can as well bring you down from the top. So who are your close friends, family friends and business partners? Godly principles are also required to keep you in your elevated position. Let godly principles guide your finances, your business, your family life and interpersonal relationship with people. Proverbs 4:20-27 recorded some of these principles as: attention to God’s word, diligence in guiding your heart, avoidance of perverse talk, avoidance of corrupt speech, staying focused, adherence to goals & objectives, standing by what you believe and abstinence from evil. You will need the above and many more because only godly principles stand the test of time. Lastly, to retain your position at the top, you will need to spend quality time waiting on God. According to Isaiah 40:31, your strength is renewed only in His presence and you accomplish beyond the ordinary when you wait on God for direction & instruction. The stamina to keep going from high level to higher level only comes from His presence. As you go in this week, ponder on the above. If indeed you desire a higher ground in the year 2014, begin to position yourself from now because attaining a higher ground is one thing, sustaining it is another thing entirely. Have a blessed week. Tolu & Bukola BISADE-PHILLIPS SOWERS INTERNATIONAL.
