SEEK DAILY (NBC) Friday, July 19 Ezra 7:1-10 STUDYING AND KEEPING THE LAW “For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 7:10, NIV There are two lessons we can deduce from the life of Ezra in regard to his attitude to the law (the Word of God). Christian leaders’ thorough understanding of God’s Word can become models to the led and the leaders’ devotion and dedication to studying the Word can produce commitment in them and impact positively on others around them. The basic difference between Ezra’s pulpit and some of today’s pulpits is that the former served the Word of God through careful and conscious study, while some of today’s pulpits serve the Word without preparation and adequate study. Ezra also lived out the Word while some of today’s ministers are careless about living by what they preach. Ministers and teachers in the church must make conscious efforts to live out the Word. This is because proper delivery of the Word and an exemplary lifestyle that conforms to the Scripture are powerful tools that can transform lives and show God to people.
