SEEK DAILY (NBC) Saturday, June 15 Luke 8:9-15 RECEIVING THE WORD “…having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15, KJV The ‘parable of the sower’ is a perfect illustration of the four types of listeners in any congregation–the wayside people, the rock-hard people, the thorn-patch people and the good soil people. The wayside people, like most people in a congregation, are those who refuse to believe the Word of God while the rock-hard ones are those who believe but do nothing about it; hence, their faith withers. The thorn-patch people are those who are overwhelmed by cares of materialism thus leaving no room for God in their hearts. The good-soil people are those who receive the Word, obey it and follow Jesus, no matter the cost. You need to ask yourself what group of hearers you belong. Sincerely considering this issue will help you to make the necessary changes. God expects His children to receive His Word, allow it to take root in us and bring forth fruit in abundance so that others can see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. It is the only way to stand in good stead with the Lord. Prayer Point: Lord, help me to be a good-soil hearer of Your Word. Read Bible Through Passage: 1 Chr. 14, 15; John 18:19-40
