And Emerald, Blackwater, Capella and Comet. . *** *********************************************************************** IDQ20041 Bureau of Meteorology Queensland Regional Office TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts. Issued at 5:45 pm Sunday, 2 November 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Locations which may be affected include Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Hervey Bay waters, Maryborough, Childers and Biggenden. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields district. Locations which may be affected include Emerald, Blackwater, Capella and Comet. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 8:45 pm. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly. *********************************************************************** Lightning strikes are displayed on the Weatherzone Lightning Tracker as crosses (cloud to ground) or squares (cloud to cloud). White are most recent, red are 30 minutes old and blue are 60 minutes old. Remember, IF ITS FLOODED - FORGET IT!! Please take care on the roads and never shelter under trees in a storm.
