SEVERE WEATHER BULLLETIN NUMBER FIVE (FINAL) TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT: TROPICAL STORM “ESTER” ISSUED AT 10:30 PM, 11 JUNE 2014 TROPICAL STORM “ESTER” HAS GAINED MORE STRENGTH AS IT MOVES OUT OF THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (PAR). Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “ESTER” was estimated based on all availabe data at 980 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (26.0°N, 131.0°E). Strength: Maximum winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. Movement: Forecast to move East Northeast at 33 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “ESTER” will be at 940 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes by tomorrow morning. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm/hr within the 350 km diameter of the depression. • “ESTER” will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to heavy rains over Batanes group of Islands, Calayan and Babuyan group of Islands, the Regions of Ilocos and Cordillera, the Provinces of Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan and Bulacan while the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains. • Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Northern and Western seaboards of Northern Luzon due to the surge of Southwest Monsoon enhanced by TS “Ester”. • With this development this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance.
