SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE: We have made a few minor adjustments to the severe weather outlook for Monday through Wednesday...mainly to timing and severity of each round. Images are attached below, and you can view the latest briefing here...srh.noaa.gov/bmx/?n=mmbrief Heres a brief recap of what you can expect here across Central Alabama... Monday morning: Weakening line of showers/storms entering NW counties. Limited severe threat for locations generally west of I-65 and north of I-20. Damaging winds appear to be the main threat. This is the round we are least concerned about at this time. Mon afternoon - Tue morning: A second batch of thunderstorms will develop to our west and move into Central Alabama beginning sometime Monday afternoon. These storms...whether cellular, linear, or both...will slowly push eastward Monday night. Right now, this is the timeframe we are most concerned about. All types of severe weather will be possible...including strong tornadoes. Tue afternoon - Wed morning: A possible third round of storms could develop somewhere across the area, most likely the eastern half, beginning Tue afternoon and then push eastward thru the night and into Wed morning. This activity will be highly dependent on how the Mon night/Tue morning storms evolve. If this third round comes to fruition, then all types of severe weather will be possible. Flash flooding could become more of a concern for the northwestern portions of Central Alabama beginning late Monday if storms train over the same areas. A Flash Flood Watch will most likely be needed for much of the area...so look for that to be issued sometime before Sunday afternoon. Well, I think that just about covers our thoughts at the moment. As weve said before, there are still some uncertainties with how this slow-moving system will evolve. Therefore, further refinements to the forecast will be made through the remainder of the weekend. Stay tuned... Please share this message with friends and family who live in Central Alabama so that they, too, can be aware of the impending severe threat. We invite them to like our page as well.
