Please email eileentracey92@gmail for further information CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS: ELENA, late teens to early 20s Shy and retiring, she is secretive and defensive so being locked in this cell is her idea of hell. Though she voices her faith readily, she hides a marked past which causes her doubt. Elena is a particularly challenging part as she is the lead and the story is told both through her conflict with the other characters and through her internal struggle which is shown through psycho space sequences. REUBEN, late teens to early 20s Reuben is the most pious of the group. He commands prayer and always suggests turning to God when things seems tough. His upbringing has been sheltered and his strong faith belies a fear of the unknown. Considers himself a classicalist. Humble and kind. BECKY, late teens to early 20s Becky is bold and opinionated. She is controlled by her impulses. There is underlying tension between Elena and Becky. Becky is a challenging character as her arc is one of the most complex. She goes through a transformation in her faith and herself when faced with the hopeless circumstances of the cell. Becky would be an interesting challenge for an experience young actress with dynamic range. STEPHEN, late teens to early 20s Stephen has natural authority in the group. He is tall and the alpha male but a sweet and caring man with natural charisma. He is Becky’s boyfriend. She can be a handful but he can calm her down and loves her for her energy and zest. Stephen does not come from a religious family but found religion on his own Cooper, 20-30 A young solider working for the government. Forced to join in his mid-teens, Cooper hates what he has been made to do to their prisoners and acts compassionately towards the missionaries they capture. Hartman, 35-50 Hartman is a strong, bold man committed to the cause of the Government. While not over the moon after the violence he must commit, Hartman understands that his god wills it and it is for the greater good. He does his work for his wife and daughter in the hopes that soon they can live in a free and better country when the work has been completed and that his commitment to the government will be acknowledged.
