SHARING USEFUL TIPS AND THOUGHTS FROM ONE OF OUR SENIOR COLLEAGUE DR AMAR NATH CHATTERJEE --- ANOTHER USEFUL WAY TO GIVE DIRECTION TO YOUR PREPARATION !! “IF SELECTED, WHAT CLEARLY VISIBLE, TANGIBLE AND MEASURABLE SPECIFIC CONTRIBUTION(S) I CAN MOST CERTAINLY MAKE TO THIS ORGANIZATION WITHIN FIRST SIX MONTHS OF JOINING.” ….and equipped with that answer, s/he should proactively pitch into the interview assertively rather than waiting for the interviewer to ask questions and then answer. The four key variables above are: ‘I’, ‘Contribution(s)’, ‘This Organization’, and ‘First Six Months’ – exactly in that order of importance. The approach to answering the above question should be divided into two parts, namely, (a) ‘I’ and ‘Contributions’ that I am capable of making – i.e. my intrinsic strengths and capabilities (rather than weaknesses) which one must understand and assess right upfront; and (b) ‘The Organization’ and “First Six Months’ – i.e. a thorough understanding of the prospective employer’s business – their domain, past performance and immediate aspirations – most of which should be downloadable from the net and available in their last 2/3 years’ Annual Reports. Once (a) and (b) fit in with each other, automatically the interview is going to be a great experience. Every candidate must do this soul-searching even before applying- otherwise, even if a job offer comes by, and joining takes place, job experience after 6 months to one year’s time is not going to be so great anyway.
