SHAWWAL FASTS AND PERIODS :) Very common question, shall I make up my Ramadan missed fasts and then keep shawwal fasts or Shall I keep shawwal fasts and then make up Ramadan fasts. THERE ARE 2 OPINIONS :) OPINION ONE You have to make up Ramadan fasts first and only then keep shawwal fasts. Why? Because Ramadan fasts are fard and Shawwal sunnah. So we need to concentrate on making fard fasts first and only then make up for Shawwal. This is not feasible for many sisters for whatever xyz reasons. OPINION TWO You can keep shawwal fasts first and then make up for missed Ramadan Fasts. Why? Because there are ahadith stating Aisha (ra) made or delayed making up her missed RAMADAN fasts till upto shabaan before the coming of next Ramadan. Now its your job to see what makes sense to you and follow it. I personally missed 10 fasts this Ramadan - alhumdulillah (Absolutely no reason to get sad there is hikmah and rehman from Allah in everything He Azza wa jall does for a believer). And following first opinion will be not possible. I want to be done with 6 shawwal fasts and have the eeman boost of knowing its like I have fasted for an entire year - May Allah accept! :) I will be making up shawwal fasts first and then Ramadan Fasts. Although I will not delay my Ramadan fasts to as far as Shabaan of next year since who knows how long I will live. I will keep 6 fasts of shawwal, take 2 days break and then complete my missed Ramadan fasts. The sooner the better, I hate having the thought of I have a debt against Allah of making up missed Ramadan fasts hanging on my head. Plus I love fasting! :D Who does not?! If you have any further doubts please feel free to ask. Brothers stay away from this post. Sisters even though this is a page for sisters please remember your manners while addressing sensitive topics, please do not be explicit if you know what I mean. :)
