SHOULD THE REPUGNANT NOTION THAT WOMEN MUST BE SEEN NOT HEARD STILL HOLD SWAY IN THE 21ST CENTURY WHEN WOMEN ARE DOING ALL THE THINGS MEN DO AND EVEN MORE SOMETIMES? MUST WOMEN CONTINUE TO ACCEPT THE SPITE OF SOME MEN WHO BLATANTLY DEMEAN AND DISRESPECT THEMSELVES WHILE THINKING THAT THEY ARE ENFORCING SILENTLY ACCEPTABLE BUT HIGHLY OPPRESSIVE REPUGNANT PRACTICES IN MANY CULTURES CALLED NORMS AND TRADITIONS? I started off writing in caps because I meant to indeed shout as hard as possible. A recent encounter on FB proved to me that although some of us pretend that all humans are equal, some people in todays world are more misogynistic than cave men in the dark ages. I am one person who strongly believes in the equality of man while at the same time remaining very strong on mutual respect and if I may add, the need to always respect our spouses. However, to think that some men in our 21st century still thinks that women should be seen and not heard beats my wildest imagination making me wonder whether we live in the same time. A woman has a first class, he has a pass in the same subject, a woman as against olden days when men slaved away to maintain their families, supports hee spouse, goes to work just like any man, pays her or their family bills, mortgage and rent etc. Sometimes she raises the best children on her own without begging for help or getting support from anyone yet she is supposed to be silly, stupid etc and voiceless too. The type of man who still thinks that she must be seen and not heard possibly has no job, drinks away his laziness in a beer parlour and comes home drunk to pick a fight with the woman and her children. He may also be that type that thinks that he is in control at work but his staff work better without him because of his eternal hatred of the opposite gender and people he erroneously believe are beneath him. Do people who conveniently turn a blind eye to the strengths of the average 21st century woman deserve the respect of other men, women and children? I doubt it but people are entitled to their own opinions. All that said WOMEN MUST KEEP RISING AND BEING RESPECTFUL OF THEMSELVES AND THEIR SPOUSES JUST LIKE THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE RESPECTED BY THEIR SPOUSES. LOVE AND RESPECT ARE TWO WAY STREETS. SO YOU CANNOT DEMAND RESPECT WHILE DISRESPECTING OTHERS AND THIS GOES TO SOME MEN WHO OPPRESS OTHERS BECAUSE OF THEIR IDEAS THAT WOMEN ARE SLAVES WHILE THEY CANNOT EVEN MAINTAIN THEMSELVES LET ALONE THEIR SPOUSES AND CHILDREN WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF THE WOMEN IN THEIR LIVES: THEIR MOTHER, WIVES, SISTERS AND DAUGHTERS.
