His is an apparent case of what is commonly known as racial profiling, based on ones physical looks. This kind of discrimination is also practiced be based on the sound of ones name. My own last name Binaisa often falls victim to such discrimination. I wanted to write a poem that addresses racial profiling based on race, face, and name. The poem suddenly came to me last night as I was watching the great boxer Amir King Khan of the United Kingdom. I wanted the poem to especially addresses racial profiling as it so cruelly affects our Arab and Muslim brothers and sisters. Racial profiling and all forms of discrimination are wrong. We should peacefully fight to resist discrimination. I hope my poem titled AMERIKHAN FAMILY both exposes and fights against discrimination against Arabs and Muslims.
