SIGN, SIGN, EVERYWHERE A SIGN I still remember the words of Five Man Electric Bands song, Signs (1971): Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Blockin out the scenery, breakin my mind... How much truer are those words today, just 40-plus years later? The oft heard saying is, Somethings got to give. Whether we like it or not, a lot appears to be giving way these days. The increasing list of world issues -- climatic changes, man-made problems, dwindling natural resources, criminal conduct in the worlds largest financial institutions, weak and bankrupt economies, identity theft, wars and a host of other growing problems that are popularly tagged with the letters -mageddon -- is enough to make anyone take notice, regardless where they live on this planet, their status in society, or how much money they have stored up. Yes, there are signs everywhere. Enough, in fact, to be breakin all of our minds! Hence the growing popularity in anti-anxiety and depression medications, even for the youngest of children. But is there an answer? Yes, I believe there is. But, clearly, its not found in us. I am not attracted to the Book of Revelation, or the prophecies of the Bible, merely because they are fascinating puzzles. Rather, its because the so-called childrens stories of Daniel (a kings image, four creatures rising from chaotic waters, etc.) have proven to be true over thousands of years of history. So, why shouldnt I trust how the prophecies end? And so too with the Book of Revelation (which builds on the prophecies of Daniel). With expanding details, with precise accuracy, it moves from the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ to the very close of time. Signs? Yes, I believe there are many. An answer? Yes, I believe there is One. And you?
