He was a fighter until the end and was supported by his loving family and friends who were with him until Jesus walked him home. Diagnosed at age 3 1/2 with Idiopathic Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis and later with Renal disease which was Mesangial Proliferative Glomerulosclerosis, Skyler beat the odds and lived a life without regrets. He was born on August 17, 1996 in Richmond to Stephen Shelton and Quenna (Bowman) Gentry. He lived in Irvine, Kentucky attending West Irvine and Estill Springs Elementary Schools and Estill County Middle School. In 2009, he moved with his mom to Clarksville. Skyler had many loves in his life, but the greatest was racing. He raced the FWD #20 Orange and Blue car at the Sportsdrome Speedway in Jeffersonville and had won three races there. There he had many fans and friends who followed his racing as well as competed against him. He raced with a tough competitiveness, just as Dale Earnhardt, his NASCAR driver. Skyler also was a huge U.K. fan and rooted them all of the way to the final four. Now he can watch them win the National Championship from the best seat in the house. He also was a loyal supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals. Skyler will be remembered for his selfless love for others and his infectious love of life. He was someone who didn’t allow the pains and setbacks of illness to slow him down. He held a positive attitude throughout and left our presence to a new life free of disease. He lived by his motto, “Sky’s the Limit”. His survivors include his mom Quenna; his dad Stephen; Grandparents, Velma Jean Morris and Fred Hafley; Uncles, Billy (Jammie) Bowman, Jr, John Bowman and Theodore (Mary) Shelton; Aunts, Delia (Jeff) Henry, Lara Hafley and Sheryl Lurding; Sisters, Christy (Owen) Alvey, Evangeline Faith Banks, Elizabeth Banks (John) Dixon, Cheyenne Gentry, Destiny Gentry, Hope Gentry, Bridgette Gentry and Kaidence Heavyn Lee; Brother Landon Pierce Gentry; Nieces Breanna Alvey, Raylen Palmer Neal and his namesake, Kyra Danielle Sky Dixon; Nephews, Ryan Walter Cowguill and Benson Keith Kelly; Skyler was also survived by several other aunts, uncles, cousins and an extended Sportsdrome racing family.
