SLICE OF NEWS: Middle School Resource Officer Chip Bruce resigned his position last week and is now working as a Patrolman. Officer Anthony Fiore, who was the High School Resource Officer, will be filling the position at the Middle School. Officer Brian Gillis will step in as the High School Resource Officer for the rest of the school year. The Wilmington Police Departments staff page has already been updated ---> wpd.org/whoweare.html. I do not know what caused Officer Bruce to resign and will not speculate. That will be his story to tell, if he so chooses. I post this because Ive had many people ask me about it and have seen lots of questions/confusion on social media & in the Patch comments section. And I typically wont post on personnel issues, but Im making an exception as Officer Bruce is beloved by many in the community and I expect the story to be picked up by the local press anyway. Make sure to THANK Officer Bruce for all hes done for the Wilmington Public Schools when you get the chance.
