SOAPBOX: The debate over ethical holiday shopping has been getting awfully heated this year, so allow me to suggest a positive way to gather gifts for your loved ones. Its simple: buy handmade. Youll help a small business owner pursue their passions, develop their skills, and support their families. This method of holiday shopping is something we can all stand behind (preferably while holding hands and singing carols, or maybe thats me getting a bit carried away). If youre in the Tulsa area and you want a great opportunity to shop local this weekend, head to The Alliday Show tomorrow from 9-5 for a huge collection of handmade gifts for sale. Admission is free, and there will be a ton of fun things going on throughout the show. Ill be set up at the Make:Tulsa booth with a free project to make and take.
