SOHO’S PHILOSOPHY: Every giving page is different. Many of y’all have been curious about how SoHo runs things on our page, featured projects, and the like. Our goal is to see 100% of the projects on our page get funded. To help accomplish this we try to limit our page to 20 projects so we can focus on them better. Y’all have also noticed that we highlight a lot of individual projects. We don’t treat all projects as equal for the simple reason that they’re not equal. It all comes down to one thing: TRIAGE. It’s the same as if you were in a hospital ER – the guy with the gunshot wound who’s bleeding out gets seen by the doctor before the guy with non-descript stomach pain. Projects with an Almost Home offer get top priority because those offers disappear within days so it’s of the utmost priority that we push them as much as possible. After that projects with matches with an unknown end date (e.g. AKJ Books or Produce for Kids) get top billing since we need to get them across the finish line before the match disappears so we focus on them. Next we look at projects that have match offers where the end is known (e.g. Chase diversity) and we can calculate how much time the project has left before the match disappears. Then we look to red clock projects in order of expiration and highlight those on the page. Next we work on bringing down the price of high cost projects. We also focus on projects with impending red clocks (SoHo has a spreadsheet detailing the cost of every project and the date at which the red clock will hit). Finally, we push projects that are under $100 to move them off the page. We post funding tips, promotion tips, contests, partner funding opportunity updates, and updates on matches to help y’all get funded. We’re also happy to showcase any individual contests or promotions y’all have and many of you have seen amazing results from promoting your projects. Good for you for taking the initiative. You are the captain of your own project and control its destiny. Everyone has the same ability to promote their project and get the word out there and we highly encourage you to promote your project. We want to see projects get donations and move off the page to make room for new projects. So please trust that there is a method to our madness. Nothing we do is arbitrary and there is a reason behind everything we do. We shine the spotlight on every project on our page in due course. TRIAGE SAVES PROJECTS.
