SOME OCCURRENCES FOR THURSDAY 22 AUGUST, 2013 About 3:30pm on Wednesday the 21st of August, 2013 a 29 year old Moore Creek man entered the Supercheap Auto store in Craigends Lane, Tamworth. He was observed by staff to be acting suspiciously and was stopped shortly after leaving the store. When confronted by the staff member the man was found to be in possession of a spanner set and large automotive sticker which he had just stolen from the premises. After a short struggle the man was detained by the staff member and an off duty police officer. Police were contacted and attended a short time later, placed the man under arrest and conveyed him to Tamworth Police Station. On return to the Police Station it was found that the man was currently on conditional bail for similar offences. These conditions included ‘being of good behaviour’ and ‘not to enter any Supercheap Auto store’. He was charged with stealing and breach of bail and refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Thursday the 22nd of August. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ About 1:30pm on Wednesday the 21st of August, 2013 a trades person working on a Fitzroy Street, Tamworth home returned to the premises after being called away. As he was about to enter the premises he heard a bang and on going into the home saw that the kitchen window was smashed. He then proceeded further into the premise and found it to have been ransacked. He has contacted Police and the 69 year old female owner of the home and informed them of what had occurred. Examination of the premises found that the main bedroom window was open and the attached flyscreen mesh had torn apart. Under the window was a garbage bin which had previously been placed near the side gate. It would appear that the offender(s) had been disturbed by the returning tradesman and made their escape through this window. The woman, who is a jewellery maker, informed Police that an amount of jewellery had been stolen. Most of these items are handmade, one-of-a-kind items. She is preparing a detailed list and description of each item. Anyone finding person(s) in possession of unusual or distinctively designed jewellery should contact Tamworth Police on 6768 2999. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Shortly after 12:00am on Thursday the 22nd of August, 2013 Police from Oxley Highway Patrol were performing stationary radar on the New England Highway, Gowrie. At this time they observed a Toyota Hilux utility travelling north. When the vehicle was near Top Gowrie Road, its speed was checked on radar at 143km/h. The vehicle was stopped and the 20 year old male driver from East Hills was spoken to and found to be the holder of a Provisional Driver license. The only reason he provided for travelling at such excessive speed was that his girlfriend was pressuring him to get home. He was issued with an on-the-spot speeding fine of $815 and his license suspended immediately. Sergeant FUHRMANN
