SONY BOOMBOX CFD-G700CP REDEFINED (ACT SIX REDUX) FIRST RELEASE 5.0 03/11/2011 Propelling the radiant beauty of the boombox art form forward, this Sony XPLOD CD-Cassette Recorder CFD-G700CP is in a class by itself. Whether it’s a classical sonata, jazz, country, classic rock, or punk fusion and everything in between, this boombox will make your music come to life with its deep bass performance, detailed midrange, and super clear vocals. Be prepared to revel in the high fidelity world of Sony portable audio with this music machine at your next house party. This boombox because of its full range speaker system and power drive woofer backed by a discrete 20 watt (RMS) power amplifier system can successfully compete in sound quality with much more expensive component stereo systems. Since this boombox features the ultimate aggressive power design, I no longer have a need for that large stereo system in my home. In fact it is almost a slight of this product to call it a boombox because of its unique and powerful sound that it produces. The large and beautiful red speakers consist of two full range 4 inch speakers, two 1 inch tweeters, and a 5 inch power drive woofer with three distinct levels of bass adjustment. The Power Drive Woofer lights up in bright red when it is engaged. The Sony XPLOD boombox feature set is the best that I have ever seen in this product category. The CFD-G700CP boombox comes standard with a high performance, drift free fm/am tuner with telescopic antenna, cassette recorder, MP3 CD playback, a connection for DJ lighting equipment, and CD player with a 1-bit D/A converter for outstanding Sony sound. A full function remote commander is included for convenient control of the unit from a distance. A headphone jack for private listening and a 5 band non-adjustable equalizer to suit your musical tastes are thrown in as well. The stereo operates on 8 D cell batteries and 2 AA batteries for the remote control. AC power is also available for the unit. The boombox is heavy and therefore not easily portable because of it. The LCD display is small and should be backlit. I do wish it had even more amplifier power and an HD radio tuner built-in. Of course this Sony boombox has a sturdy carry handle and can play tunes from your iPod/iPhone via an auxiliary line input jack. This boombox is reasonably priced for the audio quality and features that you get. Once you listen to this Sony boombox, you will realize that Sony has redefined the boombox product category for the foreseeable future. This Sony XPLOD model has a sturdy construction to it and should last for many years with proper care.
