SOUNDING THE TRUMPET... THE SOUND OF JUBILEE! For those of you - TopicsExpress

SOUNDING THE TRUMPET... THE SOUND OF JUBILEE! For those of you who have never heard a Pukaea (Maori trumpet) being sounded here is your chance. It is the Maori equivalent of the Biblical Shofar trumpet (Tekiah) that is mentioned 72 times in scripture. The Shofar was initially used by God (I AM) on Mount Sinai to announce His presence before presenting Moses and His chosen people of Israel with the Torah, or Law (Exodus 26:16-19). Later the Lord God used it in battle to assist Joshua to bring down the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-20). There is no doubt that this is Gods chosen instrument and it is considered to be more than just a symbol... indeed His voice (Exodus 29:16, Zechariah 9:14). Its use by the patriarchs and prophets was principally as a warning to the people (Ezekial 33:1-6) and as a prophetic warning of days that will come to pass (Isaiah 27:13). It was used by King David to herald and celebrate the journey and arrival of the Ark of the Covenant at the Temple in Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:28). It was used to depict occasions of repentance and coronations of Kings (2 Samuel 15:10; 2 Kings 9:13). Indeed its sounding represents the Coronation of the Creator God over His entire universe! (Psalms 47:6; 68:6). It is David that gives us the modern names for trumpets and cornets: With trumpets and sound of cornet (horn) make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King” (Psalm 98:6). After the destruction if the Temple in 70AD and the commencement of the final Diaspora the public and strategic role of the Shofar declined to a status of ritual announcement of Hebrew festivals like Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) and Yom Kippur (Feast of Atonement or Day of Purification). Beside representing a new (year) start, that latter celebration also heralds the expectation of the coming of the Messiah Christ, preceding the final restoration of Israel as Gods chosen nation and the end of sinfulness in the world and enmity toward Israel amongst the nations. While in Hebrew terms the shofar blast will herald the first and only coming of the Messiah, in Christian terms it is the second coming of Jesus - to complete the final 3 1/2 years of his 7 year ministry - his having already completed the first half 2,000 years previously. In keeping with this celebration the word Shofar is at times considered to be synonymous with the word Yovel (Jubilee - Exodus 19:13) and hence the terms Horn of Jubilee (Keren Hayovel - Joshua 6:4-8) and Year of Jubilee. Footnote: Owen John Pomanas sounding of the Shofar and Pukaea trumpets throughout the world - 30 nations in one year - will soon conclude in Israel at the places of Jesus Celebrated Arrival, Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension. It is a period of Gods blessing these nations - the sound of Jubilee... Come Lord Jesus!
