SPIEGEL ONLINE illustrates what I saw and experienced in Gaza during my stay 2011. There is in peace time as a result of the Israeli blockade a heavy shortage in medecine. Gaza cannot stock medecine for a state of emergency now doctors dont know what to do. In peace time Gaza has only some hours of electricity and since pumps are dependend on electricity water supply and canalisation does not work eather with all the consequences for the hygenic situation and diseases. Prices of food is high which is natural in any place under siege. The UNRWA supplies some basic groceries, but a majority of Gazans survive just day by day. Gaza is densly crowded, you can feel it on the streets you see only people. It is impossible to evacuate people in Gaza and provide them with food and shelter - since both are hardly there in peacetimes. How does it feel for Gazans? I met grown up men starting to shake or being close to tears from one instance to the other. Almost everyone in Gaza is suffering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder or severe clinical depression according to doctors, but of course no medication or therapy is at hand. What therapy could that be anyhow?
