SPIRIT OF PRAISE Arise, O Lord! Stand against them, and bring them to their knees! Rescue me from the wicked with your sword! By the power of your hand, O Lord, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. May you satisfy the hunger of your treasured one’s. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendant? Because I am righteous, I will see you face to face and be satisfied. Psalm 17:13-15. We should realize the true goal in life, to know God, and the true reward in life, to see God one day. I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done. I have many aggressive enemies; they hate me without reason. They repay me evil for good and oppose me for pursuing good. Don’t abandon me Lord. Do not stand at a distance Lord. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior. Psalm 38:17-22. Sorrow for our sins brings hope. God alone is the true source of healing and protection for those who confess their sins to Him! WISDOM SPEAKS 17 An honest witness tells the truth; a false witness tells lies. 18 Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. 19 Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed. 20 Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! 21 No harm comes to the godly, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. Proverbs 12:17-21. PRAISE FOR THE BELIEVER Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” Then he said, “You will undoubtedly quote me this proverb. Physician heal yourself meaning, why don’t you do miracles here in your hometown like those you did in Capernaum. But I tell you true, no prophet is accepted in his own hometown.” Luke 4:22-24. Jesus was not accepted as a prophet in his hometown and many people today get this same attitude by people they know. We should not be surprised when people don’t understand the Christian life we lead and our faith in Christ. People who know our background, our failures, mistakes and how we once were may find it difficult to see the new person we have become. Don’t worry, continue to let God work in our life’s and pray that we are positive witnesses for him, and trust God. After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon’s house, where he found Simon’s mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. “Please heal her,” everyone begged. Standing at her bedside he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she at once got up and prepared a meal for them. Simon’s mother-in-laws attitude was to give thanks to Jesus for healing her by serving them, and taking care of their needs. God gives us health to care and serve others. But he replied,” I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” Luke 4:42-44. The Kingdom of God is the Good News! It’s good news for us because it breaks the chains of slavery to sin and gives us a freedom to have a direct relationship with God. As long as the Holy Spirit lives in the hearts of believers here and now the Kingdom of God is present with us. As we go forth and preach the Good News let us always remember that the Kingdom is at hand.
