SPLM-DC Member of Parliament on Tuesday blasted some political parties who denied their leadership Dr Lam Akol Ajawin to the peace talks as “parasites of the government”, not real opposition”. Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec told journalists that SPLM-DC could be the right official opposition party to utter independent views in consideration of inclusivity. He argued that political parties in the regime are represented by the government’s delegation because they cannot say independent views opposing the system which is a party to conflict and feeding them. MP Adigo recommended division of powers between the executive president and the proposed prime minister in government of national unity. He suggested the Kenyan case of President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga after 2007 contested elections results as the most suitable. MP Adigo said in conflict resolution, there is need for compromise for win-win situation, not one party claiming victory. Pro-government political parties’ faction spokesman from National Congress Party Bishop Gabriel Roric Jur said their position paper presented to IGAD mediators was a one-man-show, convincing others to approve, but he was against it. He admitted the need for forging unity of purpose and diversity to spot a common ground.
