One of those volunteer groups gave endless hours of time and energy over the summer to inquire and list what the public wants included in SPLOST IV which will be on the November 5th voting ballot. SPLOST is not a new tax! It will extend SPLOST III which expires at the end of April, 2014. That same penny will be in SPLOST IV and is estimated to bring in approximately $190 Million to Henry County. Judy Neal Community Volunteer Each SPLOST program is defined by law to have a beginning and ending date. Every program stands alone and must be approved or rejected by voters. SPLOST 4 IS A NEW TAX, not an extension. == "The entire project list can be found @ co.henry.ga.us/SPLOSTIV.shum. It includes funds pledged to recreation, fire and police, many intersection improvements, paving of dirt roads and much more." So, tell us exactly what projects WILL BE FUNDED - list them on the ballot. Otherwise our so-called leadership is asking for a slush fund. == "Seventy five percent of SPLOST IV or $142 Million will go to the county; Twenty five percent or $45.5 Million will go to the cities." BUY-IN AND VOTE BUYING raised to an art form. Give a man money and he will support your efforts however unworthy they may be. == "$42.5 Million will go to county-wide projects" meaning Categories of projects. Try telling the truth! "The balance of the county’s $100 Million is to be divided equally among the five districts to be used for capital and transportation projects per district needs and priorities." Read this one closely. "per district need and priority" literally means the money will spent however and for whatever the district commissioner wants. NO ACCOUNTABILITY Please think about the lies and distortions used to promote this NEW TAX. VOTE NO It is time for a truthful and factual Voice in the Henry Herald.
