SPOILERS. The only truths about fandoms you need to know: If you love a character, some combination of Moffat+Whedon+Martin will kill them. I mean, except if you read the damn book written a hundred years ago and they dont really die, like that Holmes guy. Oh, or if they were really just on a plane too far away from SHIELD to help Cap out. Or... erm, no, Im pretty sure you are safest in Game of Thrones working under the assumption that your favorite characters will die horrible deaths.
