SPORADIC BROWNOUT ((-: Yesterday, Miagao experienced 3 power interruptions, the worst occurring at around 2 pm where it was siesta time and sleep abandons most of us as the condition becomes sweltery hot. Under such circumstances, it is preferred to curse ILECO rather than light a candle when darkness occurs and luckily this time, it is not a Miagaowanon who sits as the GM unlike before where he took all the cursing and the blame every time there is a power failure. It is really bad when there is no power. When power resumes there is a sudden surge in electrical consumption of appliances which were left “on” after the power loss. You only find out when your electric bill arrives that you were charge higher and you even thought that you have saved a lot due to the constant brownout. Power trip-off and resumptions also cause certain infractions on electronic or digital gadgets such as flat screen LED tv’s, IPADS, computers, ovens, refrigerators etc. that can harm and destroy its systems. We wonder why we cannot drag the electric cooperative to court to pay us for the damaged done to our appliances as much as they could easily cut-off our electrical supply if we lapsed payment because we cannot go to the ILECO office to pay because of bad weather condition? Perhaps, the worst that can happen during a brownout is the rise in blood pressure of those who are suffering from hypertension. You cannot stop a person to hurl invectives against someone when the heat temperature rises. There is no electric fan and the air-con is dead. Too much heat may cause him/her to drop to the ground from a seizure cause by a stroke and yet ILECO still does not provide a health care or hospitalization benefit for people who suffer from this malady caused by their power shortage. Some couples too, complain of the bwisit power interruption during the height of their procreation, but that’s another story. ((-:
