SS UPDATE: Tottenham Ready toBreak Transfer Record to Land £20m Rated La Liga Hot-Shot White Hart Lane side pursue Valencia forward. Tottenham’s pursuit of much needed striking reinforcements will reportedly see Andre Villas-Boas smash the North London side’s transfer record fee in pursuit of Valencia forward Robert Soldado according to the Daily Mail . White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy is ready to move within touching distance of the Mestallaoutfit’s £20m valuation in a movethat will exceed the £16.75m fee spent on Luka Modric in 2008. Villas-Boas will hope such an offer will be accepted by the cash-strapped Valencia side whoare well known for having to sell their top performers to help balance the books. The fact that Miroslav ?uki?’s just missed out on securing a Champions League spot will leave Valencia even more in needof funds from player sales and Soldado could be interested in a move to join Tottenham. Soldado is one of the most reliable strikers in La Liga, havingscored a dozen plus goals in each of his last five seasons in the Spanish top tier. The former Getafe man netted a career best total of 30 goals in allcompetitions last term. Jermain Defoe started the seasonwell but went well and truly off the boil, scoring just one goal in his last 15 Premier League appearances. Indeed Emmanuel Adebayor fared even worse, scoring just five goals in 25 top tier matches and as such Villas-Boas could certainly do with a signing of the quality of 28 year old Soldado
