SSP faces Army Major’s ‘wrath’ Srinagar, Srinagar’s police chief, Amit Kumar, Wednesday faced wrath of an Army Major while handling protesters near the accident spot at Hokarsar on Srinagar-Baramulla highway. Police sources disclosed that Kumar, the Senior Superintendent of Police (Srinagar), was trying to handle the post-accident law and order situation near the mishap site when Major of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles—later identified by police as Major Gagan Deep Malhotra—misbehaved with him near Zainakote. “After seeing the Army Major’s behavior, local boys chased him and he ran away,” the sources disclosed, asserting that Kumar has taken a note of the Army officer’s “misbehavior and intimidation” and informed his higher-ups about the “unwarranted incident.” Police later registered a case under Section 353 of RPC (assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duties) against the Army Major at Parimpora Police Station
