STAR - A0979290 @ the Manhattan NY High-Kill Shelter A volunteer writes: Star...wishful thinking or was she ever one? One wonders looking at this sad girl laying so weary looking in her kennel. Her coat is patchy, her legs have calluses and her eyes are missing eyelashes. Her weight is great though. Reluctantly, Star gets up from her bed and follows me, eliminating as soon as we leave the building. She seems a bit lost and pulls. She does not really pose for pictures or sit on command. Indeed, she is lost. I decided to spend more time with Star, that she was worth the investment and my role as a volunteer is anyway to make animals left into our care, feel better... I sat on the side walk and had to pull Star to sit by me. We talked or rather...I talked. She did not want my treats but eventually, her body started to rotate and her face begun to face me. I petted her and she rewarded me with a kiss. I was glad. My eyes filled with tears and Star licked my cheeks...Dogs are unique, genuine. They are truly our friends. Star was left with us as her owner could not care for and afford a pet anymore. Star is said to be a good girl and lived in harmony with young children. Star does need care and veterinary attention. She is a good girl who is with us at the Manhattan Care Center. Will you be her new forever best friend ? https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=684317354914480&set=a.617942388218644.1073741870.152876678058553&type=3&theater
