STATE HOUSE THREATENS COLLEGE FOR CONVERTING FEES TO POUNDS Following exposure by the Watchdog, State House officials have intimidated and threatened to de-register Zambian Institute for Capacity Building (Zicab) for converting students ’s fees into British Pounds. Early this week, ZICAB notified its students that it has converted outstanding fees into British Pounds due to the unstable, fluctuating Zambian Kwacha. The Watchdog published the communication from the college director to students. Just a few hours after the article was published, state House phoned the college director Sandford A. Mupanga and told him to reverse the decision. The named state house official accused Mupanga of trying to make the PF government unpopular. The college was forced to rescind the decision. The director Mupanga sent the email below to all students: Subject: [zicabstudents] RE: OUTSTANDING BALANCES CONVERTED INTO POUNDS To: Dear all, Please refer to our email of yesterday. After a second thought we have agreed that all Outstanding Balances will continue to be paid in Kwacha as before. Regards, Eng.
