STATEMENT ON THE IRAQ/SYRIA CONFLICT Family First is appalled by the violence, persecution and conflict presently underway in the areas of the Middle East controlled by a group known by names like Islamic State. We acknowledge that this matter has been a subject of prayer and major concern throughout the Australian community. Family First has been working behind the scenes with the Australian Government for weeks regarding action that our Government could take in relation to the conflict. To that end, Family First welcomes and congratulates the Governments announcement overnight that Australia will take 4,000 refugees from the conflict area. Family First is very concerned that our Australian Government should do all that it can reasonable do to prevent genocide, protect citizens, provide aid in, and refuge in (and if necessary from) the conflict area.
