STILL ON EKITI ELECTION: Seriously I sometimes wonder why people take me too seriously or what exactly they expect of and from me. I wrote an article about Ekiti election like most people did I captioned mine “Sore losers” Today a hapless facebooker I would not mention his name because he is entitled to his opinion came telling me off. Hear him Portia I really hate your partisan attitude and the way you carry on about PDP.....how dare you call APC supporters sore losers? Democracy as I know it is like the idiom “first past the post’ It is a system of social arrangements in which ultimately two factions or individuals or groups with conflicting interests clash and slug it out at the polls and the ballot decides and the highest number takes precedence or carries the day. When that is done it is either the losing factions challenge it in Court if they sense any irregularity or they gracefully accept the defeat as Fayemi did. Nigerians after years of losing interests and hope in the sacredness of the ballot and the system of democracy have now rekindled that frustration and turned it to their benefits and best interest as seen by the Ekiti polls and the electorates. It only confirms that it cannot be business as usual that the fingers that cast the vote would always be stronger than the pen that writes the law. This particular election has given the whole nation something to think and ponder on even, the two contestants have shown so much grace and poise in the way they handled their losses and gains. Fayemi graceful in losing and Fayose graceful in victory. PDP is worst than APC and the way you have refused to see that makes me very sad……my fb friend went on…… PDP rigged that election and you know so. Okay Mr my reply to him So PDP rigged in Fayemi’s ward and went as far as his family to rig too? I dey lafff o! This is the first time I have heard one could be defeated even in his own family and Fayemi lost I mean in his ward that could be translated to his family knowing how close knitted we are religiously, ethnically and culturally……..so PDP also went to his family to rig? And the family of the Deputy Mrs Adelabu, family of all the officials of the state, the commissioners et al? Bro what are you saying? APC was thoroughly trounced even the story of intimidation of voters did not hold water……..Fayemi knew the truth and spoke it as it is and folks are still screaming blue murder. Blind tunnel attitude you have with all due respect and for that it may help you to get on with it and allow me for Portia keeps it real all the time. I was supporting Fayemi though I rooted for Opeyemi Bamidele for the man Fayose I did not know him at all nor know anything about him or of him, all i knew of him was what I have read in the papers and from Fayemi’s foot soldiers and paid bloggers on social media. Please Democracy is a game of numbers and the best that gather most numbers would always carry the day. In this case Fayemi the Doctor did and Fayose the man with just a mere technical education won. Ekiti people are saying they have seen enough doctors and professors that have translated to nothing after all they have like about three for the price of one i mean those doctors and professors........It means zilch to them i heard everyone and every family has one or know of one and now they want only technical artisans and have opted for one that can deliver and do the job. Lesson to learn it is not about the fanciful English and nuances we all speak and use when trying to impress but about action and connecting with the people. If you like say na you alone waka come or diaris godoooo! na you sabi as long as you waka do the job na eim matter. . It is no longer a do or die affair but about service, populism, humility and the mere fact that one is ready to work to effect and affect the electorates needs and in this case the people believed Fayose over Fayemi. They know their man Fayose because he was there before but they do not know Fayemi because of the great disconnect. Governance is about the people not about your high horse elevated attitude and platitude. It is about respecting the wishes of the people rather than taking them for granted in a bid to enrich your wives, your sons-in-laws and daughters…its about sharing the wealth of the people evenly rather than making yourself the hero that should be worshiped at your beck and call. Be cautious because the people don shine their eyes well well. They are saying no to the malefactors and dictators in APC not to Fayemi per se. It is too late in the day now to redeem yourselves because the damages have been done and they are irretrievable, irreparable and it is to late to undo them. The Emperor of Bourdillon on my mind. Talk of a sore loser indeed……My fb friend abeg park well. More onslaught on the way Osun on my mind and that other former PDP state okay Edo people anyone at home? I nor be PDP agent, GEJ’s bit on the side or Niger Deltan apologist but I am a concerned Nigerian. I be nothing sef!
