STRAY DOGS...AND BLOGGING If you have a business, any type of business, whether its selling bird seed, pick-ups, supplements, or cosmetics you need to have a blog in addition to your website. One of the biggest things to do to generate traffic (potential customers) to your site is to be at the top of the search engines, i.e. Yahoo, Google and Bing. One of the ways to get there is to blog consistently...lets think of Google as a stray dog... Google comes and visits your house (blog) and finds that you have left some tasty morsels (content) out for it to eat. Now, Google, being very hungry, remembers that you left some tasty food out for it, so it comes back the next day to see if you just happened to leave some again. Lo and behold, you have! You made Google happy. Now, Google, being a good dog, comes back and checks the next day, and once again youve left it some more to eat. This cycle continues, until Google becomes your dog and best friend. That is how blogging works, you put out morsels most days of the week (400-700 written words; a 1-3 minute video; reposted content from another site with an intro of why you like it and credit to original author); and the search engines come back looking for more. As long as you are providing QUALITY content to the search engines, it will drive traffic to you and then will turn those potential prospects into customers.
