STRIKE, LABOUR & NIGERIAN GOVT, EDO state as a litmus test: You have to be in Government to know what is Governance. Gov; ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE was once NLC president. During his era, Nigeria was crippled, agitation This, agitation that. The then Comrade President never knew that there is more to Salary Increment and Governance. He thought that once his union demands for increment in wages, they must be granted their needs. Today, Adams Oshiomhole is by popular vote, the Governor of His state. Unfortunately, for the last 4 months, Teachers in his state have been at home. They embarked on an indefinite strike, demanding for a better welfare. Oshio baba told them that he has no money, infact, the state is poor and wont be able to meet their demands. Now, this brings me to the issue at hand. If ADAMS OSHIMHOLE, a former Labour Union president, now presiding over a state, can be adamant as to granting the Teachers or Unions request, what justification does anyone have to labell Government insincere regarding Teachers or workers welfares? The Labour Union only captures 1.5% of our population, which means, over 98% of Nigerians are on their own not covered or protected by NLC. Its high time we demand for a change of Labour Agenda. Labour should start demanding for better Governance, and Improvement in the areas of infrastructure. Normater how much you are paid by Government, if there are no basic infrastructures put in place to serve as palliatives, your monthly pay will never take you home. LABOUR should stop demanding for Salary increment, rather, they should be demanding that better infrastructure that would serve the needs of all be put in place by Government. If you want to know what differences their are between Labour Unionism and Governance, go to EDO, and OSHIOMHOLE would lecture you.
