SVEEP Campaign goes green at Kathua KATHUA, NOVEMBER 10:- In continuation of the series of SVEEP programmes initiated by the District Election Officer Kathua, Dr, Shahid Iqbal, Kathua Forest Division organized a massive plantation drive in its premises today under the overall supervision of Vijay Kumar Verma, Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority who is also the Nodal Officer of Distt. SVEEP team , Kathua & Anshul Garg, IAS Probationer who is also Assistant Returning Officer for Kathua Assembly segment were also present on the occasion. A large number of people representing various non-governmental organizations and functionaries of Panchayats participated in the function. The function started with planting saplings by Dr. Bharat Bhushan Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority, Anshul Garg, (ARO Kathua) & Vijay Kumar Verma, Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua. Vijay Kumar Verma, Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua told the gathering that more than 45000 saplings will be planted across the district in next two months as a part of SVEEP campaign called “One Plant One Vote” in association with Social Forestry and sister wings of Forest Department, NGOs and Panchayats. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Chief Executive Officer , LSDA, Anshul Garg, IAS (ARO Kathua) & Vijay Kumar Verma, DFO, Kathua deliberated in length on the importance of voting and how it helps in choosing a right candidate for the progress of the nation. They said that it is the responsibility of all the citizens to cast their votes and also encourage others to exercise their right to vote on the day of polling which 20th Dec 2014. Sagar Singh DFO, Social Forestry, Kathua, Kuldeep Singh,Wild Life Warden Kathua, Kuldeep Kumar,ACF, Anil Sharma, PO Thein Project Sawroop Chander, Dy.Director, FPF, Vinay Khajuria, Range Officer Kathua,and senior Officers of various Departments were among those who planted the saplings in the Forest Complex, Kathua. KATHUA, NOVEMBER 9:- In order to promote Electoral Awareness under SVEEP campaign, an awareness meet of the line departments and representatives of PRI’s of Block Barnoti was held at Block headquarter Barnoti. CDPO, Barnoti, ZEO, Forest Range Officer, Block Veterinary Officer, Naib Tehsildar, AEE PWD, Community Health Officer and Sarpanch’s and Naib Sarpanchs also attended the meeting. BDO Barnoti Suninder Jeet Kour while speaking on the ocassion appealed to the PRI’s representatives to motivate voters and spread the voter awareness drive of the administration in their respective areas. She also asked the participants to aware other stakeholders about the importance of the voting in democracy. She called for maximum voting percentage in their respective panchayat halqas. CDPO, BVO, Naib Tehsildar also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the importance of the Right to Franchise. Sarpanch Bisheshar Singh and Sarpanch Amrik Singh also spoke on the occasion. REASI, NOVEMBER, 10: Taking cue from the successful campaign to enlist voters and bring them to the polling booth under SVEEP during the Parliamentary Elections in Reasi, District Administration Reasi has intensified campaign of SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) during the past few weeks. The idea is to enhance the poll percentage cent per cent, added District Election Officer Reasi Shabir Ahmad Bhat in a meeting to review the SVEEP awareness. He further added that the focus is involving youth and will have components such as mass pledge, rallies, conferences, Rangoli and painting competitions, street plays and catchy slogan splash etc. “We are targeting all segments right from school children to pensioners and to college students,” he added. Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi –Shiv Kumar Gupta said, SVEEP campaign is working successfully in the district and all booth level officers have been directed to create awareness among the voters. Now the need of the hour is that intensive efforts should be made to motivate maximum number of voters to cast their votes on 02 December, he added. Nodal Officer SVEEP-Dr Jagdish Mehra informed that today at all the government offices/ schools/colleges a mass pledge was taken by all that they will exercise their franchise and will also urge friends, relatives, parents and eligible voters in their families to exercise their franchise. The school children were also made to carry voting pledge letters to their homes added Dr Mehra. The pledge campaign was initiated from office of District Election Officer, which was attended by ADC-Shiv Kumar Gupta, RO-Reasi Tilak Raj Sharma, CPO Reasi and all the staff members of DC Office. A painting competition was also organized under SVEEP at Government Girls higher secondary school Reasi on the topic ‘Doo minute vote ke liye’ and My vote, my right, my pride, in which large number of students took part. SAMBA, NOVEMBER 09- As a part of training programme and SVEEP activities in District Samba, a sensitization session of Anganwadi Workers was organised in District Samba. More than 200 Anganwadi Workers participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion, Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner Samba emphasized on the Ethical part of the electoral procedures and processes. The take away of this interaction was “voting without fear or favour”. He further said that the Anganwadi workers can play a pivotal role in making the voters especially the women voters aware of their voting rights. He impressed upon the Anganwadi workers to act as messengers to spread this message to the public in their respective areas. He also appreciated the efforts and contributions made by Anganwadi Workers in the past elections. The focus of the SVEEP activities in the district is to achieve maximum poll percentage and to ensure the greater participation of voters especially women in the District. On the occasion, Vivek Sharma, ADDC and Nodal Officer SVEEP informed that so far a number of rallies, signature campaign, pledges, sankalp patras etc have been organised to motivate the young voters. Moreover, various posters, banners, stickers have also been put at prominent places of the district like ATMs, Offices, sale depos, etc to make the voters aware of their voting rights. GM DIC, Satish Sharma, Assistant Director Employment, CDPO Samba, and CDPO Ghagwal were also present in the function. DODA, NOVEMBER 09- General Observer 53-Doda Assembly Constituency, Dev Raj Dev today convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties of the District, and educated them about the various guidelines and instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to be followed by the contesting candidates in view of ensuing assembly elections in the District. Observer also shared his contact details and asked all the participants to contact him when they find any violations of the provisions of the MCC by contesting candidate or any government official. He also said that Mosques, Churches, Temples or other places of worship shall not be used as forum for election campaign. Observer further impressed upon the participants that no political party or candidate shall permit his/her followers to make use of any individual’s land, building, compound wall etc., without his permission for erecting flag-staffs, suspending banners, pasting notices, writing slogans etc. Besides instructions regarding holding of public meetings , organizing procession and poll day instructions were also conveyed to all the participating representatives. Earlier, Expenditure Observer for 53-Doda and 54-Bhaderwah Assembly Constituencies Parasad. D. Gorase reviewed the preparation of the expenditure monitoring team and MCMC Doda and conveyed necessary directions to all of them. He also visited all the expenditure monitoring cells and all the records maintained by the various teams were also checked. Mega voters awareness camp at Gramin Vikas Bhawan JAMMU, NOVEMBER 10-Intensifying its campaign to reach out to maximum number of people and sensitizing them about their right to vote for stronger democracy under WAKE UP Jammu Campaign, District Election Office is organizing a series awareness camps across the District. A similar voter awareness camp was organized today at Directorate of Rural Development Department, Gramin Vikas Bhawan, Talab Tillo Jammu. Director Rural Development Jammu Shafiq Ahmed Raina presided. The Employees of the Rural Development department were asked to rise for stronger democracy and urged to ensure their participation in the forthcoming Assembly Election in Jammu District scheduled to be held at 20th December, 2014. A signature campaign was also launched by Mr. Raina. Hundreds of people including staff of Rural Development& Horticulture Department participated and pledged to cast their vote on 20th December, 2014. Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu Suram C. Sharma , Deputy Director RDD Jammu Natasha Kalsotra, Deputy Director (Planning) RDD Jammu Kamal Kumar Sharma, XEN, REW Jammu Parvez Ahmed, BDO Mathwar M.L.Tasir, BDO Bishnah Zaffar Bandey, BDO Arnia Sushil Kumar Sharma among other staff also present. Similar voter awareness camps were also organized at Bishnah, Mathwar, Akhnoor etc. UDHAMPUR, NOV-10:-With the issuance of Election notification for 2nd Phase of Assembly Elections from November 07, 2014 in district Udhampur, three contestants belonging to different political parties and others, have filed their nominations for contesting the elections . Sukh Dev Sharma of PDP filed his nomination papers to contest Assembly Elections-2014 from 60-Udhampur Constituency. Dina Nath as candidate of BJP and Krishan Chander of Indian National Congress (INC) have filed their nomination papers from 61-Chenani. JAMMU, NOVEMBER 10- On the eve of “National Legal Services Day” a Pre-Lok Adalat Session of Bank Cases and MACT Cases was held in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu . Out of a total of 60 Bank Cases, 60 cases were settled on spot. Out of a total of 09 MACT Cases, 04 cases were settled. The said Lok Adalat, besides the Judicial Officers was attended by the officers of insurance companies, various banks, advocates and large number of litigants. SAMBA, NOVEMBER 10- The District Election Officer, Samba Mubarak Singh today convened a meeting of all the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates of 68-Vijaypur and 69 –Samba Assembly Constituencies today in the Conference Hall, Nandni hills Samba. He directed the magistrates to ensure provision of basic minimum facilities at each and every polling station falling under their jurisdiction which include availability of electricity, toilet & drinking water, proper signage, help desk, availability of separate entry and exit, open space, availability of number of rooms, waiting room/ shaded area. During the meeting, all the Magistrates were also instructed to follow up all the instructions issued by the Election Commission in letter and spirit and ensure free and fair polling and maintain proper law. He further directed them that Magistrates shall be responsible for the maintenance of law and order and enforcement of MCC in the areas of their jurisdiction and shall keep the District Election Officer, Samba as well as Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer informed about the latest situation on the day of poll i.e Law and order Mock Poll held, two hours poll report and other relevant information at the earliest possible. Among others, ADDC Samba, ADC Samba, Returning Officer- 68 Samba, General Manager DIC, Samba were present in the meeting.
